"Experience is life’s best teacher. Many of the best things I’ve learnt have come from trying something new and failing. Over time, failure teaches you about what is required to succeed but sometimes we want to learn things quicker and without the pain. Thats why teachers and mentors are so useful. They can accelerate your results 100 x faster than you can alone. Great mentors can empower you to not only achieve your best life, but help others to achieve theres as well.
Im looking to build the next generation of teachers and I look forward to the day when one of my students steps up and leads a class where Im the student”

christy taylor - 2019 potw woman of the world
I was just 13 when I decided I’d have my first crack at the industry. I caught the bus down to my local shopping mall where I entered in the 2008 Girlfriend Model Search. I was selected in the top 6 for QLD and decided from then on that I had to be a part of the industry! Moving forward I entered into a couple of other competitions and was signed by a local agency at 15. I worked with this agency for over four years where I walked in major fashion shows, shot bridal campaigns, was the face of an Australian hair salon and was also shortlisted for Chanel. I then casted with a Milan agency who were extremely interested in me modelling overseas in Italy once I finished school but said It wouldn’t happen unless I lost 3.5 inches off my hips...Imagine getting that news as a 15 year old young girl who was already struggling with self image and the desire to be successful in the industry.
It took a lot of self reflecting and learning to love myself from the inside out to realise that this was NOT okay!! Just because one person told me I was not good enough did not mean that I couldn’t fulfil my dreams.
I decided at 18 that I needed to travel and learn more about myself, my goals, and my purpose! I backpacked around 11 countries for nearly 5 months and decided on my return that I would model again and I would prove anyone that ever doubted my ability wrong! In 2016 I entered into my first ever pageant which was Miss World Australia.
Very quickly I fell in love with the pageant industry as it gave me a platform to use my voice to inspire others. After the competition I was presented with an amazing opportunity to travel overseas to China in an international pageant! My lifelong dream of modelling overseas was happening and I couldn’t have been more proud of myself! We spent 4 weeks competing, training, interviewing and doing charity work before the finale show where over 3000 people attended. I ended up placing 3rd amongst 55 other countries and couldn’t have been more overjoyed and grateful for the opportunity. The fact that I had achieved this through determination and hard work after all the turn backs and adversity I had faced made me realise I had a message to share and that I wanted to help young women who may be facing similar issues. The following year I was invited back to China as an international guest for the 2018 final crowning which again was such an incredible experience.
Recently I represented my parents country of New Zealand in international competition “Pageant of the World” where I was lucky enough to take out the title for Woman of the World 2019. I am so excited to see the opportunities that will follow in my reigning year and can’t wait to see what the future holds!
